The award-winning Carlaw Park Student Village set a new benchmark for high-density student accommodation in New Zealand when Stage 1 was completed in 2014 and Stage 2 was completed in 2016. Comprising 213 apartments of two, three or four bedrooms spread over seven buildings, these first two stages of the development incorporate communal lounges, study spaces, laundry and reception, as well as undercroft parking for approximately 100 cars.

Notable features of the Warren & Mahoney design include the orientation of the accommodation buildings around a central courtyard to create a sense of enclosure and community, and the use of a variety of concrete panel finishes and glazing treatments to negate any danger of seeming monolithic. City and park views have also been maximised in the village, which is owned by a limited partnership investment entity in which Ergon has a 50 per cent share.
