Net Lettable Area 8,770m2

The state-of-the-art TechPark in Manukau is a milestone building for the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT), bringing its engineering and trades schools together under one roof for the first time in 50 years. Built on a greenfields site in Manukau Central, the standalone campus incorporates open-plan offices and classrooms through a long spine, with a series of workshops either side that are designed so they can be reconfigured according to MIT’s future needs. Other features include male and female toilets, disabled toilets, risers, lift and access stairs, and parking for students and staff.

Aesthetically, the structure makes use of hardwearing and practical materials such as corrugated iron, but with flair. Dark aluminium fins and the extensive use of timber in the atrium make a strong impression, as does the use of Māori and Pasifika references in the patterned glazing at the entrance.

Opened in late 2020, the TechPark is the fruit of a close and trusting development partnership between MIT and Haydn & Rollett, with Ergon Properties involved as long-term owner.
